Founded in 1833 as the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society by Anna Maria and Caroline Fox, The Poly stands as a cornerstone of Falmouth’s creative and scientific heritage. Housed in a distinguished Grade II-listed building on Church Street, it now thrives as a dynamic community art venue—with an 180-seat theatre, gallery spaces, arts cinema, community pottery, and Makers Guild shop. The Poly offers a rich calendar of live performances, film screenings, exhibitions, talks, and workshops for all ages. Visitors can also explore the Falmouth History Archive, browse locally made crafts, or enjoy refreshments in the cosy café-bar—making The Poly both a living legacy and a lively cultural centre.
